A uniquely intact and protected example of the Great Forest of the Eastern Strzelecki Ranges.

This 51ha property forms part of a large habitat core for the Strzelecki Koala and threatened species including Greater Glider, Powerful Owl, Slender Tree-fern and Sticky Wattle. This core is contiguous with Tarra Bulga National Park and the Strzelecki ‘Cores and Links’ Reserve. The property comprises mostly endangered Damp Forest with many massive old growth, hollow-bearing trees.

The title straddles permanent Greig’s Creek and encompasses three seasonal tributaries on its southern flank, all with lush riparian vegetation and large tree-ferns. It is heavily forested throughout, with a formed driveway providing access along the southern edge and offers sweeping coastal views from some vantage points.

A Trust for Nature covenant protects biodiversity in perpetuity, allowing for a small domestic area ideally suited to camping, cabin or tiny house developments STCA. This secluded hideaway can never be encroached upon, as adjoining Crown titles are also protected.

The TFN management plan requires minimal inputs to maintain it’s virtually weed-free pristine status. Just monitor the site and maintain the walking track that meanders through so you can enjoy it.

This is a truly amazing and peaceful place. Lyrebird song fills the forest every winter. At night you can hear the haunting call of Powerful Owl, or spot koalas and gliders amongst habitat of a quality that has rarely survived and is almost never found outside of public reserves. The last fire occurred here in 1944.

Just under 200km from Melbourne CBD on sealed roads, the last 4km are via a minor all-weather gravel road. Tarra Bulga Visitors Centre and café/guest house at Balook are only 8km away, Traralgon 36km, Yarram 19km and Port Albert 32km. The 110km Grand Strzelecki Walking Track is also nearby.
